Position Description:
The Department of Rehabilitative & Reconstructive Dentistry, Division of Orthodontics, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position as the Orthodontics Program Director for the Advanced Education Program. We are interested in a dynamic and focused team leader who will build upon our established solid educational foundations to forward the mission of the Department and the School.
The selected individual will have primary responsibilities in the recruitment, training, and supervision of postgraduate students specializing in Orthodontics as the Program Director for the Advanced Education Program. It is expected that the Program Director will provide leadership in strategic planning, curriculum management, financial responsibility and must ensure that the program complies with the programmatic requirements as laid out by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Specific duties will include:
- Didactic and clinical education of postgraduate students as well as the pre-doctoral clinical education program
- Management of clinical staff,
- Clinical supervision of patient care.
The successful candidate will be an experienced clinician with academic experience in teaching and scholarly work. They must be committed to teaching and developing our residents as well as pre-doctoral students with dedication and commitment to providing full-scope quality care and service to patients. Candidates must also be driven to teach and develop their students and to give the highest quality of care to our patients.
The position calls for a mature mentor with recognized interpersonal skills who can provide an evidence-based approach to post-graduate education and clinical care. Expectations include the development of congenial working relations with students, staff, and faculty to provide a positive environment and participation on the School of Dentistry committees and governance.
Faculty practice opportunities are available. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must possess a DDS or DMD degree or equivalent,
- Be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Candidates must have completed a formal training program in Orthodontics at a CODA accredited institution
- A diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in teaching research methodology to postdoctoral residents, supervising the research of postdoctoral residents and postgraduate doctoral candidates are highly desirable.
- Track record of securing extramural research funds is highly desirable.
