McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure clinical track as an Assistant or Associate Professor-Clinical Neuropsychologist in the Department of Pediatrics , with a joint appointment in the Children's Learning Institute and the Division of Neurology.The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through clinical service, teaching, research, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Conducting comprehensive outpatient neuropsychological evaluations in an outpatient clinic setting, with occasional assessments/interviews completed within the hospital setting. Duties will include interviewing patients, determining, administering, and scoring the psychological and neuropsychological tests needed to address the referral question.
- Writing detailed reports containing relevant history, test results, and summary and interpretation of findings for presentation to the referral source. Make recommendations regarding remediation, including psychiatric referrals, where appropriate. Provide feedback to patients regarding findings.
- Providing specific neuropsychological services to the child and occasionally adult epilepsy surgery programs at McGovern Medical School, including conducting pre- and post-operative cortical mapping studies, and participating in weekly case conferences.
- Maintaining patient records and databases for clinical and research purposes.
- Initiating original research and supporting faculty research projects.
- Supervising pre-doctoral practicum students and post-doctoral fellows completing rotations within the Dan L. Duncan Neurodevelopmental Clinic.
- Working with other faculty within the Dan L. Duncan Children's Neurodevelopmental Clinic to continue to develop a rigorous intern and post-doctoral training program for psychologists and neuropsychologists.
While the position is primarily focused on clinical service with an emphasis on seeing pediatric patients referred by the Department of Neurology, opportunities exist for participation in research projects with CLI, Duncan Clinic, or Department of Neurology Faculty.
Qualifications:

Preferred applicants will have completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology, possess a current license to practice Psychology in the state of Texas, and have experience in the neuropsychological evaluation of both children and adults. Experience in pre-operative evaluations of candidates for epilepsy surgery, including cognitive mapping and Wada procedures, would be particularly valuable.
