Position Summary

The Health Equity through Autism Research Translation ( HEART ) Lab , situated within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine, is a seeking applicants for a full-time (non-tenure track) Assistant Research Professor. The HEART Lab, directed by Dr. Rebecca McNally Keehn , focuses on reducing autism and neurodevelopmental health disparities through the development and evaluation of innovative models of care both within the US and globally. Our team of scientists, health care clinicians, caregivers of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, autistic advocates and learners are passionate about applying cutting-edge research methods to solve real-world health problems and improve the lives of children, their families, and the health care clinicians and systems that care for them. Our areas of research focus include: understanding disparities in autism services to drive new methods for improving health care access and equity; building capacity of primary care to improve equitable access to autism evaluation through Indiana's Early Autism Evaluation Hub system ; cultural adaptation of autism evaluation tools for use in resource-constrained local and global communities; integration of clinical and biobehavioral approaches to advance early autism diagnosis.

Position Description

The candidate will assist the Lab Director with day-to-day scientific operation of the lab's various projects. Responsibilities will include oversight of laboratory administration of multiple scientific teams (each with dedicated project coordinators and research assistants) and their respective project objectives, oversight of clinical research participants and related compliance activities, developing and implementing new strategic plans across projects, data management and analysis, preparation of grant proposals, presentations and manuscripts, and supervision of postdocs, interns, and RAs. The Department of Pediatrics supports a hybrid work arrangement; regular in-office time is required.

Environment

The HEART Lab is situated within the Division of Children's Health Services Research ( CHSR ) in the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. Established in 2001, CHSR is one of the largest and most active pediatric research divisions of its kind in the country. As a national leader in health services research, our expertise falls in four priority areas: informatics, implementation science, community engagement, and systems and policy analysis. The HEART Lab team also closely partners with the Division of Developmental Medicine at Riley Hospital for Children .

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate or terminal degree required.
1. Doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related/relevant field.

2. Clinical psychology licensure or license eligibility and experience in research-grade autism assessment and diagnosis preferred but not required.
3. History of involvement in a clinical research lab studying child development or neurodevelopmental disorders, as evidenced by application materials.

4. Strong record of scholarship and exceptional quantitative analytical and scientific writing skills, as evidenced by application materials. Expertise in qualitative and community engaged research methods is preferred but not required.
