Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of Science Education to begin August 2026. The position is a tenure-track, academic year appointment based at the Athens campus, with the possibility of summer employment.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a scholarly research, publication, and grant writing record
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in science education
- Advise graduate students and supervise graduate student research
- Contribute to the department to maintain programs of excellence in research and teaching
- Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and public
- An active record of scholarship and productivity commensurate with experience
- Potential for seeking and attracting external funding
- Ability to effectively teach in our science teacher preparation programs, which include elementary, middle grades, and secondary teacher preparation, as well as in other courses in
our undergraduate and graduate programs - Ability to teach face-to-face and online within the current program curriculum
- One or more years of experience teaching in PreK-12 settings
- Evidence that science education is central to research
- One or more years of experience with populations having varied backgrounds and learning preferences
