Position SummaryThe Department of Kinesiology in the School of Health & Human Sciences ( SHHS ) at Indiana University Indianapolis invites applications for a 10-month appointment, tenure-track faculty position.
The successful applicant will have the ability to teach and mentor both graduate (MS and PhD) and undergraduate (BS) students, will be responsible for developing an active and sustainable research agenda in their area of expertise, generating external funding, engaging in teaching, and providing service to the school, university, community, and profession. Individuals with translational research and/or community engagement experiences are especially encouraged to apply.
The Department of Kinesiology offers a PhD, an MS, and BS in various plans of study.
Job Duties:
40% Research
40% Teaching (2 courses/fall and spring semesters)
20% Service
Applications will be reviewed beginning October 1, 2025, and will be accepted until the position is filled. The ideal target starting date is Jan 1, 2026.

IU Indianapolis has earned national recognition for its innovative health and life sciences initiatives, providing extensive opportunities for collaborative, interdisciplinary research. The university is making significant investments in research, including the launch of two new institutes: the Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute ( CBATI ) and the Institute for Human Health and Wellbeing (H2W). Additionally, a $138 million grant from the Lilly Endowment will support the IU LAB , a state-of-the-art facility at 16 Tech site designed to position Indiana as a national leader in bioscience discovery, commercialization, and talent development.
SHHS is looking for scholars who will contribute to our commitment to engage the city, state, nation, and beyond through teaching, research, and service. Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Adapted Physical Education / Activity or related discipline
- Demonstrated success in research as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
- Evolving program of research aligned with the discipline of kinesiology.
- Potential to secure independent external funding with collaborative research of an interdisciplinary nature.
- Teaching experience.

Additional Qualifications
- Post-doctoral training or equivalent field/industry experience.
- College/University teaching experience and:
- Experience with physical activity community programs and/or clinics centered on persons with disability.
- Possess knowledge of Physical Education Teacher Education programming and the ability to contribute to PETE majors.
- Familiarity with High Impact Practices and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning principles.
- Mentorship of undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students
Demonstrated experience working with students and employees with disabilities and from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Potential for collaborative and/or interdisciplinary engagement across SHHS and the IU Indianapolis ( IUI ) campus.
- A demonstrated or emerging potential for external funding.
